On the drive to Pukatawagan, we met with Bishop Cozzens and picked up Fr. Tom from Minnesota. We then drove to Winnipeg and had a fun game night with the youth. Then, we stopped at The Pas to meet with Archbishop Murray. We were blessed to see the Northern Lights as we followed Fr. Dhana through the bumpy winter roads.
Our mission group consisted of 6 from the US and 4 from the Toronto area, including our Fulltimer Josh Jacob. Our main task was to prepare kids for First Communion and Confirmation. There were many challenges, but as a group, we were able to find the beauty through it all. We had a very powerful time during Adoration with the kids one of the nights, as many of them opened their hearts and were moved to tears.
We had a great time getting to know the community. We visited the school to play games with the kids. The community celebrated Fr. Dhana’s 16th Anniversary of his Priestly Ordination. We hung out with the young adults and went ice fishing, ski-doo rides, and square dancing. We had taken part in a wake service and 2 funerals. We were able to help the families bury their loved ones for both funerals.
Through it all, the Lord was truly working and had touched each of our hearts on this mission. We had many great memories and many thoughts to take back with us.
